General
Blaze Skip is one of the oldest skips in Horizon Zero Dawn, having been discovered on the 20th of March, 2017 by AKheon. It saves around 18 seconds if hit first try on the Dervahl Glinthawk split, but is notoriously inconsistent and is never actually relied on for timesave. Hitting the skip for most runners is less than a 5% chance on first attempt.

How To Perform
In order to perform Blaze Skip, one must enter the house where Dervhal's bomb is housed. Once you do, Aloy and Erend will share a brief exchange, during which time you can move Aloy to right in front of the wooden bracket that you must interact with. If your position is exactly right and you mash the interact button at just the right moment, it is possible for Aloy to interact with the bracket before she is supposed to. After this, you have to turn right and immediately interact with the bomb itself. Both of these inputs are frame perfect or at least close to it. The amount of time you have to hit the interaction seems to vary from run to run, but it is unclear whether it actually does.

If you miss the Blaze Skip, you can restart from save and try again. If you do this, it is basically guaranteed that you hit the interaction with the wooden bracket, although the interaction with the bomb itself is still extremely hard to hit.

You should always try to get Blaze Skip, as it doesn't lose time to try, but restarting from save more than once is not recommended. Do note however that restarting from save once will cost around 5 seconds if you do not hit the full skip.

The run starts at a NG+ save and is completed when all 23 Grazer Dummies in the Nora Sacred Lands have been knocked over with a Heavy Melee Attack or the Stormslinger.

Routing
Dummy% takes advantage of having all of the settlements in the Embrace be unlocked fast travel points from the beginning of the game as there are 4 dummies relatively close to them. After getting these, you exit the embrace early and knock over the rest of the dummies at other settlements and Bandit Camps. The current World Record deviates from the original routing by shooting the dummy within Mother's Heart from a mountain on the outside. At the moment, the record is an 8:37 by Fleur_Bleue101.

Notice: This article is about Abs%, the HZD category extension. For Abs% the HFW category, check Abs% (HFW).

General
Abs% is a category extension in Horizon Zero Dawn, the aim of which being buying and equipping the Carja Blazon Heavy outfit to show Aloy's abs. The category originated in mid 2020, with one of the earliest runners being Charlatan_11235.

Timing And Goal
Timing for Abs% begins upon skipping the first cutscene that plays after starting a New Game. There is no New Game+ category for Abs%, as you would just be able to have the outfit in your inventory from the get-go, or have all the shards and materials ready to buy it in advance. The goal of Abs% is to gather the resources needed to buy the Carja Blazon Heavy outfit, and reach a merchant that sells the outfit. Timing ends upon equipping the outfit and exiting the merchant or inventory screen, depending on where you equipped the outfit from.

History
Abs% has it's origins in mid 2020, where the accepted form of running the category was still New Game Ultra Hard. The first known run of the category was performed by Charlatan_11235 on the 1st of July 2020 in 3:36:18. Runners like Elkjaer and Marenelinea would later also join the category, and the first real route was made. Since the category was Ultra Hard at the time, you needed 2 charger hearts instead of 1 to buy the outfit. In order to acquire these, runners would head to a charger site to then start the insane RNG-fest that is gathering 2 charger hearts on Ultra Hard.

The category would later change to be ran on Story difficulty around December 2020, the route changed to reflect this, as the new route became completing Sawtooth, Proving and Corruptor (just like the old route), before farming shards at the Nora Hunting Ground, and then heading to Meridian. At Meridian, you could buy a charger heart from a specialty merchant, before buying the outfit itself.

The route used would change again in early 2021, when Fleur_Bleue101 would use the Early Embrace Escape glitch to skip Sawtooth, Proving and Corruptor saving a few minutes. Additionally, the Dawn's Sentinel Skip was used to avoid needing to use the Carja Border that could not be unlocked due to Embrace Escape. This would bring the record to below 30 minutes for the first time. Because of using Early Embrace Escape, the grazers did not spawn inside the Nora Hunting Ground. Because of this, Potion Duping would be used to get the needed shards.

Around mid 2021, a friendly rivalry started between Marenelinea and Fleur_Bleue101, where both players would keep taking the record from each other. At this time, Marenelinea would come up with an adjustment to the route. The general route stayed the same, but instead of gathering shards with Potion Duping, the meta instead became using Campfire Teleports (CFT's) to teleport to loot locations and get the necessary shards. The CFT's were at Morning's Watch to get to Brin's hut, and at Meridian to get to the Nil Plateau. The record made it all the way to a low 23 with this route.

Around late 2021, Fleur_Bleue101 would make a new update to the route. Instead of CFT'ing to Brin's hut and then fast travelling back to Morning's Watch, you would stay at Brin's hut and make your way to Meridian from there, saving about a minute.

Later, Fleur_Bleue101 made another update to the route by CFT'ing to Brin's hut from Free Heap instead of Dawn's Sentinal.

In June of 2022, Marenelinea would make another update to the route, completely changing it. You would no longer go to Meridian, as the charger heart needed was instead acquired from a corrupted zone with chargers near the Ring of Metal. This added a new major luck factor to the run, but made going to Meridian obsolete. With this, Marenelinea became the first to get a sub 20 minute time with an 18:09 with the new route. The record would be contested a few times between Fleur_Bleue101 and Marenelinea, but is currently in the hands of Fleur_Bleue101 with a 16:54.

Trivia
* Abs% was the first meme category of Horizon Zero Dawn.
* Abs% exists in both HZD and HFW.
* Abs% is one of the few categories to utilise Early Embrace Escape and CFT's.

FleurBleue101: /* How To Activate */

General
A Camp Fire Teleport (CFT) is a glitch in HZD where Aloy's respawn point is set to an incorrect position for Quick Saves and Manual Saves. The glitch requires using Early Embrace Escape in order to exit the Embrace early and enter a broken map state. While this map state is active, the player can save at a campfire or fast travel location, and then reload the save either by doing a restart from save (RFS) or loading a save from the 'Load' menu to get teleported to a separate, consistent location. It is uncertain who discovered CFTs, but some of the first to bring them up to the community were Charlatan_11235 and Marenelinea.

How To Activate
As previously mentioned, the player will need to exit the Embrace earlier than intended using Embrace Escape. This will give the player access to a map state similar to the one found in the nighttime Sawtooth fight in the "The Point of the Spear" Quest where campfires don't appear on your map. The player then needs to walk up to the desired campfire, and RFS at it to get teleported.

Mechanics
Overview
Upon leaving the Embrace before talking to Varl after the proving, the player can save and RFS at a campfire in order to get teleported. The position the player gets teleported to will always be consistent.

A CFT to Mother's Crown:

<youtube>sD44TP3zl2g</youtube>

Cause
While it is not certain why this happens, it is theorized to have to do with the campfire within the Sawtooth arena in the "The Point of the Spear" main quest. This is because this campfire will teleport you to the center of the Sawtooth arena upon restarting from save at it, and the campfire itself won't show up on your map. The developers may have either intentionally or accidentally added a similar mechanic to all the other campfires. Testing with the help of Teleportation Mods backs up this theory with having the ending locations from CFTs after escaping the Embrace early be the same as saving at campfire outside of the sawtooth arena during the nighttime section of the "The Point of the Spear" quest.

Map State Changes
While the location you will respawn at are consistent with your save location, certain actions will modify these locations to other static locations. Actions known to cause these changes are 'Discovering' the settlement Meridian and completing bandit camps. Both of these actions set the respawn location of all nearby save points to the campfire of the location (these campfires also have visible and selectable icons on the map unlike almost any other campfires outside of the Embrace). While it is unknown as to why these specific actions create new CFT respawn locations, it does help support the theory that of the possible respawn locations, you will respawn at the one closest to the location that you saved at.

Uses
CFTs are currently only used in Category Extensions, as no usage has yet been found in main game categories. Abs%, All Cauldrons and Dummy% all use CFTs in their routes.

Mapping
As CFTs are static in what locations you end up after reloading a save, several attempts have been made to create a full map of every starting location and where you will end up after saving but none are fully comprehensive because of the quantity of locations and nuances of changing map states modifying ending locations.

The first published attempt to map CFTs was done by Lanthy in September of 2021 but does not account for certain map state updates such as entering Meridian.

AltinCloak has also made some attempt to map CFTs extensively with a spreadsheet of coordinates but has yet to complete it.

FleurBleue101: /* Invisible Walls and Mounts */

General
This article contains a variety of Mount and Machine Glitches for Horizon Zero Dawn, most of these are too brief or general to have an article of their own, and so they are collected here. Most of the glitches do not have uses in runs, but may be useful in the future or for general exploration of the game and its mechanics.

Glitches and Mechanics
Mounts in Settlements
Mounts that have made their way into settlements will behave strangely, as they will ignore the collision of walls, roofs, and occasionally floors. This can be abused to start the Flying Mount Glitch, seen lower in this article. Getting a mount into a settlement is currently only known to be possible in Brightmarket (using shock traps or a slow device such as a poorly performing PC or PS4 with an HDD) and Mother's Watch (using a climb up the side of the mountain that surrounds the settlement).

‎

Flying Mount Glitch
The Flying Mount Glitch allows you to titularly fly your mount. While flying, the mount will use its off-road speed, meaning it will not be as fast as it can be. A mount can fly when it leaves a high flooring from a settlement (see Mounts in Settlements). Once flying, the mount will not be able to go up or down, unless it gets close to any object with collision, such as a tree, rock or house. If it gets close to one of these, the mount will snap to the object, and no longer be capable of flying, unless the object is within another settlement.

Originally, it was possible to trigger a flying mount glitch anywhere by fast travelling while the mount was hopping up or down, but this has been patched.

‎

Invisible Walls and Mounts
Mounts are able to ignore most invisible walls, and, in some cases, regular walls. This can be seen in for example Maker's End Early or in the Southern variant of Early Embrace Escape. If you happen to be riding a mount, you will simply continue to ride with it. This property does not apply to "You can not enter this location" walls, as the mount will not ride through these. An exception to this can be read in the Combined Conditions section of this article.

Aloy will also be able to get onto a mount even if it is on the other side of an invisible wall, and in some cases, a regular wall.

‎

Mount Yeets
Mount Yeets are a glitch which throw Aloy across the map at high speeds and cause strange effects. For a full explanation, check the main Mount Yeets article.

‎

Mount/Machine Clipping
There are several methods of clipping through objects using mounts or machines. One of these is Push Clipping. Another is a form of clipping found by everydayaussie, where you can get Aloy onto a mount through an object such as a tree, then cancel the animation of Aloy getting on with tearblast arrows. This will, if done correctly, put Aloy in the object.

‎

Mount Spawning
When calling a mount with the "Call Mount+" skill, the mount will randomly spawn outside your field of view. It is therefore advantageous to look in the direction you do not want the mount to spawn in. The "Call Mount+" skill will only spawn a new mount if there is no already overridden mount within ~200 feet. As a result, runners will occasionally bomb their mounts to turn them into regular machines again in order to have a more advantageous spawn nearby.

‎

Combined Conditions
If a mount happens to be in the Flying Mount Glitch state, it will actually be able to ignore "You can not enter this location" walls. An interesting side effect is that Aloy will actually be left behind in a seated position, while the mount will remain under your control. If you reach the other side of such a wall, Aloy will gradually drift back onto the mount.

Trivia
* Mounts used to have even more related glitches, but most were patched. An example of this is being able to sit onto a non-overridden machine by blasting a mount with tearblast arrows while getting onto it.
* Of the glitches and mechanics mentioned above, none have uses in speedruns. An exception is mount yeets, which are only used in a single category extension, Smack%.
* Mounts are severely hated by runners due to their often unpredictable behaviour.

General
The Broken Coil Drop is a glitch in Horizon Zero Dawn where the player gets a green coil instead of one or multiple purple coils, caused by using Early Embrace Escape.

How To Activate
In order to get a broken coil drop, you will first need to use the Early Embrace Escape glitch. Once you have done this, locate a machine with a chance of or guaranteed purple coil drop. After killing the machine, you will see the looting symbol show as purple, but upon looting the machine, you will find that it only holds a single green coil, most commonly a 5% damage coil.

A video showing the glitch:

<youtube>rDGdK8tO5vs</youtube>

Discovery
The glitch was likely discovered by Fleur_Bleue101 in early 2021, when testing things with Early Embrace Escape.

Mechanics
The glitch is partially visual and partially gameplay affecting. It is likely caused by the game forcing the first coil drop or first few coil drops to be green. This overrides the game wanting certain machines to drop purple coils, but the game will still show the purple looting symbol.

The Fast Eclipse Base Escape (FEBE) is a skip that saves around 8 seconds in the Eclipse Base discovered by everydayaussie. It was originally theorised on the 22nd of May, 2021. However, the method used at the time involved getting a quest from Odd Grata, which was not fast enough to save time. As such, the skip was discarded for the time being.

Later, on the 8th of August 2021, everydayaussie would post an updated version, where you would get the Luck of the Hunt quest rather than using Odd Grata, which meant that the skip was actually faster. Unfortunately, the skip isn't used in runs due to requiring an extremely difficult jump over the ravine during the escape section of the Eclipse Base.

Initial slower version:
Updated faster version:

<youtube>rstr4U2dY5o</youtube>

How To Perform
In order to perform the FEBE, you will need to have your save file set up with 3 boar skins and an unlooted Scavenger Dark Box with a boar skin inside. Now you can start your run. Once you reach Mother's Crown, talk to the questgiver of the Luck of the Hunt, and head along with your run. When you reach the Eclipse Base, complete it until you get to the escape section. Now jump across the ravine as shown in the video (updated faster version), and jump over the gate to get to the rappel point. After getting down, collect the boar skin in your Scavenger Dark Box and restart from save. Now continue the run as normal by fast travelling to Zero Dawn.

Note that it is not recommended to actually use this skip due to its sheer difficulty and small timesave.

General
Dig Site Early is a skip discovered by everydayaussie on the 22nd of May 2021. It saves around 15 seconds by alerting the Eclipse within the Dig Site through either the stormslinger or blast sling to be allowed to restart from save directly into the Dig Site.

How To Perform
In order to perform Dig Site Early, you will need to head towards the Dig Site until you get close enough to be able to shoot directly into it with your stormslinger. While it is possible to do it with a blast sling, this is not recommended outside of Any% due to being slower. A convenient cue for when to fire the storsmlinger comes in the form of some collectable Ridge-Wood, once you are standing on the Ridge-Wood, you know that the shot will work and alert the Eclipse. After this, restart from save to get put right on top of the Dig Site.
General
A Restart from Save (RFS) is a common trick used in both Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West to save time, most often due to the RFS altering Aloy's position to be more advantageous, although some have the effect of cancelling an animation or similar. This article will contain a full list of RFS's throughout all categories from Horizon Zero Dawn. If something in the list is unclear, you can watch a run from the category to see it in action or ask in the community discord.

General
Push Clipping is a glitch in Horizon Zero Dawn possibly discovered by Fleur_Bleue101 on the 31st of December 2020. It involves using a machine's collision to push Aloy through a thin hitbox like a door or gate.

How To Perform
In order to perform Push Clipping, have a machine attack you against a thin hitbox like a door or gate. If it lines up correctly, the machine's hitbox will cause the game to push Aloy through the door or gate. It is in many situations easiest to do this if you call a mount, and then burn or bomb it to make it aggressive to you.

Mechanics
Push Clipping likely works because the machine's hitbox is thicker that that of the door or gate. This means that when Aloy gets pushed against it, the game pushes Aloy through the thinner hitbox. The fact that doors and gates are made up of two separate hitboxes to be able to open likely helps with getting the game to clip Aloy through.

Uses
So far, there have been no uses for Push Clipping in any category due to the way the game's quest system works and the small amount of doors or gates that you need to get through and have a mount or machine available for.

General
The Early Embrace Escape, also known as just Embrace Escape, is a glitch in Horizon Zero Dawn possibly found by Alice in late 2020. It involves walking against a "Can't Enter This Location" wall in a specific way to clip through and exit the Embrace earlier than you are supposed to. The glitch was later brought back into the community's attention when it was used for a new Abs% route by Fleur_Bleue101.

Later on, multiple variations of this glitch would be found. They are listed below in the Variations section, along with detailed explanations afterward.

The original video posted by Alice:

<youtube>lwnPUuBjwzA</youtube>

‎

Variations
There are 4 main variations of Early Embrace Escape, the regular Embrace Escape which is used in category extension runs and is most commonly meant by the term Embrace Escape. Varl Skip, which is a rare glitch that occurs when going to first talk to Varl. Southern Embrace Escape, which is a convoluted method of escaping using a mount for invisible walls and bomb jumps that takes place near the Southern Embrace Gate. And finally the Northern Embrace Escape, which takes place further up the mountain range than the regular escape. Each of these have their own detailed sections below in the article.

‎

Early Embrace Escape
How To Perform
The Embrace Escape glitch is, as already mentioned, activated by walking against an invisible wall that gives the "Can't Enter This Location" text. As of right now, there is only 1 known spot that you can actually escape through this wall, which is located on a small rock near the North Gate.

The original version posted by Alice uses a sort of diagonal rolling against the wall in order to clip through. The common method has since shifted to aiming down and quickly walking back and forth against the wall.

The current method of Embrace Escape:

<youtube>lxPexorNtdc</youtube>

Mechanics
The Embrace Escape glitch is thought to work due to the strange collision of the rock on which the glitch is performed. After walking or rolling into the way in just the right way, the player will be teleported beyond the wall onto the ground in New Game (NG), but will be teleported to a slightly different place if playing in New Game+ (NG+). Additionally, when playing in NG+, the player may be teleported onto invisible ground beyond the wall and be stuck, and may also end up inside the rock the glitch is performed on. It is unknown why NG+ differs from NG for this glitch, as nothing should have changed. It has been theorised it has to do with learned skills or inventory, but these theories have all been disproven.

‎

Varl Skip
How To Perform
Varl Skip is a variation of the Early Embrace Escape discovered by Fleur_Bleue101 on the 3rd of November 2020. It is a rare glitch that has only been encountered a handful of times when riding your mount towards the Main Embrace Gate to talk to Varl. In order to execute this, you need to fast travel to the main embrace gate, call your mount, and quickly get on it and preserve its speed towards the gate. At this point, you may clip through the gate and skip the cutscene with Varl.

A clip of Varl Skip happening

Mechanics
Varl Skip is thought to work as a result of slow hardware, meaning that the collision of the gate does not immediately appear when it changes from intact to broken when you call your mount. This has not been proven however, and the glitch may be possible on all hardware.

‎

Southern Embrace Escape
How To Perform
The Southern Embrace Escape is a variation of Early Embrace Escape discovered by Fleur_Bleue101 on the 27th of January, 2022. It involves using a combination of Bomb Jumps and Mount Mechanics to get out of the snowy area near the southern embrace gate.

In order to escape the Embrace from the south, you need to first head up into the snowy area filled with machines where you recover Arana's spear in a sidequest. In this area, head to the right and make your way up the wall. You may need to use bomb jumps to clear some rocks. Once you make your way up, stick to the inside of the area to not get Restarted From Save by the game. head around the area through the left. Eventually, you will reach an invisible wall. Call a mount in front of you and mount it to ride through the invisible wall. Keep heading through the mountain and you will encounter another invisible wall. You can again use a mount to ride through this invisible wall. You can now head back in roughly the direction of the gate and you will be on the other side of it.

Northern Embrace Escape
The Northern Embrace Escape is a variation of Early Embrace Escape discovered by Lanthardol on the 27th of January, 2022. It involves using some Mount Mechanics to clip through an invisible wall in the north of the embrace.

Original discovery video:

<youtube>OKeU33q6R0Y</youtube>

‎

Mechanics and Effects
Upon escaping the Embrace early, the player will gain access to the full map of HZD early. This causes a few glitches, the most notable of which being CFT's. Beside that, campfires walked by in this state will not activate and will not show up on the player's map. Additionally, certain campfires will not exist on the map, such as the one at the Nora Hunting Grounds and the one closest to the Main Embrace Gate. It is theorised that this is because the player actually leaves the Embrace once during the main quests that take place then, and the developers wanted to prevent the player from getting campfires outside the Embrace early. Settlements and Gates will however still be discovered.

If the player escapes the Embrace early while having already opened the Main Gate to speak to Varl who is fighting a sawtooth, the player will be able to start the "The Warchief's Trail" main quest without actually having it. Additionally, the player will be able to play the game all the way until the Maker's End main quest without having any of the main quests required to get there. It is uncertain why the game does not spawn the Deathbringer and Eclipse Soldiers you are meant to fight at Maker's End.

If the player completes any part of the "Seeker at the Gates" main quest, such as speaking to Marea, Varl will disappear from the Main Gate and the player will be Hardlocked, meaning that it is impossible to complete the game on that file.

‎

Uses
Embrace Escape currently only has uses in the Category Extensions, primarily because of it unlocking CFT's, but also because it allows you to skip the Sawtooth, Proving and Corruptor. The glitch is used in Abs%, All Cauldrons and Dummy%. Routes have been theorised for it to be used in All Bandit Camps, but nothing has come of it as of yet.
The Proving Escape is an oversight in Horizon Zero Dawn within the "The Proving" section. It was originally discovered by Fleur_Bleue101 on the 5th of February 2021. It allows the player to exit the Proving while it is active, through avoiding certain checkpoints.

How to Perform
There are two slightly different variations of the Proving Escape, both rely on the same principle of avoiding a checkpoint after or before killing the grazers. The original variation avoids the "Go to the start of the brave trail" goal, by jumping around it. The 2nd variation essentially does the same, except before taking out the grazers. Both are shown below:

Notice: this page is about the most commonly used version of Embrace Escape. For the other version, check Varl Skip and Southern Embrace Escape.

The original video posted by Alice:

<youtube>lwnPUuBjwzA</youtube>

How To Activate

General
A Camp Fire Teleport (CFT) is a glitch in HZD where Aloy's respawn point is set to an incorrect position for Quick Saves and Manual Saves. The glitch requires using either Early Embrace Escape or Varl Skip in order to exit the Embrace early and enter a broken map state.

As previously mentioned, the player will need to exit the Embrace earlier than intended using either Embrace Escape or Varl Skip.

FleurBleue101: Mounts AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH

This can be seen in for example Maker's End Early or in Southern Embrace Escape.

Eclipse Base Early is an oversight in Horizon Zero Dawn allowing the player to return to the Eclipse Base after finishing it, or enter it before you are supposed to. The earliest known instance of it being mentioned online was in October of 2017, although it is possible that someone discovered it before this time. Currently, there are no use cases in speedrunning for Eclipse Base Early.

Variations
There are 2 separate variations for the performing of Eclipse Base Early. It is heavily recommended to use the Mount Variation for convenience however.

Mount Variation
The Mount Variation of Eclipse Base Early uses a mount to gain the height necessary to reach the climbing handholds that allow access to the Eclipse Base. Putting a mount in front of where some climbing handholds are during the quest, you can jump onto the mount, then onto a rock that pokes out slightly, before jumping to handholds that are always on the cliffside.

<youtube>WkshR7iJcqI</youtube>earliest known video of Eclipse Base Early

Bomb Variation
The Bomb Variation of Eclipse Base Early uses a combination of precise jumps and bomb jumps to reach a plateau that sits beside the first Eclipse Base area. You can call a mount once up here, and ride through the invisible wall to enter the Base.

General
Early Early Corruptor is an improved version of the now obsolete Early Corruptor skip that takes place during the Corruptor split. It was found on the 22nd of May 2021 by everydayaussie and uses the icerail on Ultra Hard and the Banuk Bow on Story to kill the Corruptor at Mother's Watch in 1 hit before the game intends you to.

How to Perform
In order to perform Early Early Corruptor, you will need to make your way up to the platform Resh is standing on before the fight begins. This can be done by using a nearby pile of wood. Now, aim your weapon at a weak spot of the corruptor, and wait until Aloy has finished speaking. When the gate breaks, you have a small window to kill the Corruptor. Fire as soon as your screen shakes, the breaking sound is heard and, if controller vibration is enabled, your controller vibrates. If you successfully kill the Corruptor, restart from save and loot it to progress.

General
Rookie Mistakes are actions which can lead to softlocks and similar. It can be difficult to pick up on how to avoid these when learning the run, and most players learned how to avoid these only after losing a run to them.

List of Rookie Mistakes
* Dropping too early at the beginning of the FAS tower. When initially entering, the game will, after a few seconds, play the line "Dr. Sobeck, you are X amount of time late for your meeting with mister Faro. Please proceed...". If you drop down the first shaft before this line plays, the game will softlock unless you return to the top of the shaft.
* Doing Gate Skip in Eclipse Base too far to the left. If you perform the Gate Skip, and drop too far to the left on the other side of the gate, the game will not allow you to progress when reaching the Tallneck. To avoid this, simply drop on the right-hand side of the gate.
* Fast travelling away from Eclipse Base too quickly. After completing the Eclipse Base, you will need to wait for the "Quest Completed" text to show up on screen before fast travelling to begin Zero Dawn. The game will softlock if this is not done.
* Not killing the 2nd set of Kestrels in Zero Dawn. This applies ONLY to the console version of Horizon Zero Dawn. When doing Zero Dawn, it is mandatory to kill the 2nd set of 3 Kestrels, or the game will softlock upon making further progression.
* Fast travelling away too quickly from Gaia Prime. After completing Gaia Prime, it is possible to fast travel away too quickly, which will make the quest not complete unless you return and do the bitter climb over again. To prevent this, simply wait a second after attaching the Master Override to Sylens' Lance.

It saves around 8 seconds by using a vine on a wall in the Eclipse Base to avoid needing to take a zipline.
How to Perform
In order to perform the Vine Skip, you will want to enter the first area of the eclipse base (with longlegs and watchers). Make your way to the passage you would usually enter through, and find the vine somewhere a bit to the right. Jump up the vine and into the passage.

General
Tree Skip is a skip that takes place during the proving split discovered by everydayaussie on the 6th of August 2021. It involves sliding down a tree to avoid triggering a death plane and as a result, cutting some movement short. It saves around 8 seconds if performed well, and will break even with the normal route if it is failed on the first attempt.

How to Perform
In order to perform the Tree Skip, you need to slide down the zipline in the proving (shortly after getting a grazer trophy), and jump onto about the middle of a tree sticking out from the side. As you jump on, pull out a weapon, aim it and shuffle backwards off of the tree. If done correctly, you will not trigger the death plane and be able to make your way towards a checkpoint, after which you can restart from save and progress.

In order to use the modern method of Grave-Hoard Early, you will need to make your way to to the top of the Grave-Hoard, then slowly walk over to the hole shown in the image on the right. Watch the video below for a more precise detailing.
Trivia
* Entering the Deathbringer room while using this glitch will result in a softlock, as you will no longer be able to fast travel out.
* It was for a while theorized that using the Outcast outfit would make it easier to drop through the hole, but this is likely not true.
* Grave-Hoard Early is only used in the Shieldweaver% category extension.

The initial discovery for the Zero Dawn Skip was made by wirednotes in October of 2019, and saved around 25 seconds by jumping up a pillar to avoid the fight you usually would have to do during the Zero Dawn quest. An interesting side-effect of skipping the fight was that the quest would become glitched and not progress. The day after the skip was posted in the community discord server, Elkjaer would find a use for this glitched quest state. Because the game doesn't realize that you are no longer working on Zero Dawn, you can fast travel straight to Mother's Crown to do the corrupted thunderjaw fight, saving another ~25 seconds by eliminating the need to travel from the embrace gate.

How to Perform
In order to do Zero Dawn Skip, you will first need to head to the room in which you fight several Eclipse troops. These would usually come in several waves, but it is crucial that you do not progress the fight. Some runners choose to kill one or two of the initial three Eclipse soldiers to reduce interference while trying to do ZD Skip. Head to the couple crates in the room, and jump up the pillar (see image).

When doing the first jump from the crates to the pillar, land on the right-hand side of the rock. The 2nd jump is the most difficult, you need to try and have Aloy land right in between 2 rocks. The third and fourth jump are fairly easy, just jump up to the next rock. For the final jump, line yourself up with the catwalk, then sprint and jump. It is essential to not jump too quickly, but rather wait until you almost fall off the rock. This is to prevent hitting the stalactites hanging from the roof.

Once you make your way up, continue through as you would normally. Note that the Behemoth fight after Zero Dawn will be made more difficult, as the Behemoth will lack it's usual behaviour of smashing into the pillars. Lure the behemoth to the pillars by standing centred behind the pillars. (Watch a run of a high-level player for more detail)

Finally, after the fight, fast travel to the Mother's Crown settlement, and restart from save afterwards. Then, jump through the gate on the left side, as it will be closed.

Note that ZD skip is considered one of the hardest skips for a reason, and can be difficult to get down.

Trivia
* Fleur Skips were originally invented in Elkjaer's Twitch chat, they were originally a joke project in which Fleur would try to find a skip on every split of the main game run.
* It is a common joke that everything is Fleur's fault, this stems from Fleur Skips often being far too difficult to be worth it.
* Fleur has participated in both community tournaments, and placed 2nd in both.
