General
New Game is a mode in Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West where the player starts out from scratch and is forced to play the tutorial section of the game. This is opposite to New Game+, where the player keeps resources, weapons and skills and automatically skips the tutorial in HZD and can choose whether to play it or not in HFW. To start a New Game, you simply have to select it and a difficulty from the starting screen.
Categories
New Game categories are typically referred to as Any% categories for regular categories, but will be called New Game for the Category Extensions that make the distinction between NG and NG+.

Trivia
- At both games' release, New Game was the only available option.
- At the beginning of HZD's leaderboard, the category now known as Any% was called "Beat Game".
