General[edit | edit source]
Blaze Skip is one of the oldest skips in Horizon Zero Dawn, having been discovered on the 20th of March, 2017 by AKheon. It saves around 18 seconds if hit first try on the Dervahl Glinthawk split, but is notoriously inconsistent and is never actually relied on for timesave. Hitting the skip for most runners is less than a 5% chance on first attempt.
How To Perform[edit | edit source]
In order to perform Blaze Skip, one must enter the house where Dervhal's bomb is housed. Once you do, Aloy and Erend will share a brief exchange, during which time you can move Aloy to right in front of the wooden bracket that you must interact with. If your position is exactly right and you mash the interact button at just the right moment, it is possible for Aloy to interact with the bracket before she is supposed to. After this, you have to turn right and immediately interact with the bomb itself. Both of these inputs are frame perfect or at least close to it. The amount of time you have to hit the interaction seems to vary from run to run, but it is unclear whether it actually does.
If you miss the Blaze Skip, you can restart from save and try again. If you do this, it is basically guaranteed that you hit the interaction with the wooden bracket, although the interaction with the bomb itself is still extremely hard to hit.
You should always try to get Blaze Skip, as it doesn't lose time to try, but restarting from save more than once is not recommended. Do note however that restarting from save once will cost around 5 seconds if you do not hit the full skip.
