Rock Skip

Rock Skip is a skip that takes place in the "To Curse The Darkness" main quest during the escape section. It involves not getting softlocked by a falling rock whilst climbing through the area. Failing rock skip is extraordinarily rare, but even the best of runners slip up sometimes.

Rock Skip is a meme in the Horizon Speedrun Community. It is typically only really brought up whenever it's failed due to the aforementioned softlock caused by a falling rock. Failing rock skip is extraordinarily rare because of how rare it is for the rock to fall in such a way that it softlocks you. In order for that to happen, a deathbringer needs to shoot the rock, it needs to fall on the ground right above a handhold, and Aloy needs to jump over to the handhold right when to rock lands. This will allow the rock to block Aloy and make Aloy stop the rock from falling. Only a few runners have been known to ever "fail" rock skip, some of which being Elkjaer and Made_By_Scar.
