A Restart from Save (RFS) is a common trick used in both Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West to save time, most often due to the RFS altering Aloy's position to be more advantageous, although some have the effect of cancelling an animation or similar. This article will contain a full list of RFS's throughout all categories from Horizon Zero Dawn. If something in the list is unclear, you can watch a run from the category to see it in action or ask in the community discord.
Some RFS's are only used under certain circumstances. These can typically be ignored and will be written in bold.
Main Game RFS List[edit | edit source]
All of the following RFS's apply to every category that plays only the Main Game of Horizon Zero Dawn (I.e. Any%, NG+)
- After fast travelling to the Main Embrace Gate.
- After gathering the 2nd Grazer trophy in the Proving.
- After performing Tree Skip.
- After any wave of the proving, if the proving phase glitch happened.
- After killing the corruptor through the Early Early method.
- Upon entering the Massacre Site.
- Around 5 seconds after examining the watcher in the massacre site.
- After getting close to the Two-Teeth bandit camp.
- After completing the Deathbringer Fight at Maker's End.
- After shooting the Stormslinger for Dig Site Early.
- After killing everyone in the Dig Site.
- After talking to Sona in the Dig Site.
- After completing the 3 hololocks in Grave-Hoard.
- After completing the Deathbringer fight in Grave-Hoard, if far away from the door.
- Upon nearing Eclipse Base.
- After finishing Eclipse Base, if doing the Fast Eclipse Base Escape using a Boar Skin.
- After completing the hololock in Zero Dawn.
- After Fast Travelling to Mother's Crown after Zero Dawn.
- Upon approaching Pitchcliff.
- After killing everybody in Dervahl's Camp, if doing the theorised faster version.
- After the Sobeck hologram finishes in Gaia Prime.
- Upon approaching the bridge in Meridian for Dervahl and Glinthawks.
- After a Blaze Skip attempt, if failed.
- After doing the death version of Helis Jump.
- After talking to your allies before the HADES fight.
- After killing the final Deathbringer.

- Upon approaching Greycatch.
- After dropping the 1st sluice gate.
- After dropping the 2nd ladder.

- After talking with Gildun about the looking glass.
Abs% RFS List[edit | edit source]
- When at the last watcher in the stealth section to reach Teb.
- After saving at the campfire to CFT to Mother's Crown.
- After saving at the campfire to CFT to Cauldron Sigma.
- After fast travelling back to Cauldron Sigma.
- After saving at the campfire in Free Heap to CFT to Brin's Hut.
